Jesus C.E.O.
Higher Management Training Techniques
Leahcim Semaj, Ph.D. - Change Agent

We have the third highest murder rate in the world. Once we had the reputation of the wickedest city on earth (Port Royal). However, they say we have more churches per square mile in Jamaica that any other country. Something is wrong with this picture. Is it because we only entertain the teachings of Jesus on Sundays? Is it because we spend more time worshiping Jesus that applying his teachings? What if you ran your business according to the teachings of Jesus?
What if our politicians who recently "prayed' ran this country according to the teachings of Jesus? Well, Laurie Beth Jones has organizes all this information for us in her book Jesus, CEO; Using Ancient Wisdom for Visionary Leadership. I became aware of this book about five years ago and I strongly recommend it, especially at this critical time in our history. Why? Well, Jesus trained 12 people who went on to so influence the world that time itself is now recorded as being before (B.C.) or after A.D.) his existence. He also worked with a human staff that included persons that were illiterate, of questionable background and momentary cowardice went on to accomplish the task he trained them to do.

Lets look at the management style taught by Jesus and see if you are ready to follow. Lets review some of the self-mastery, action and relationship skills that Jesus used to train and motivate his team.

Strength of Self Mastery

He kept in constant contact with his boss. This was done on a daily basis and some times for hours. This is necessary to keep you focused and on the right path.

He had internal anchors. We were reminded not to just seek after people's approval, but instead approval that came from God.

He did the difficult things. A professional is someone who does things even when he or she does not feel like doing it. Some leader stop doing difficult things in order to maintain their popularity. He was even willing to say no to his mother when she tried to interrupt his teaching.

He was constantly is a state of celebration. His first "miracle" was turning water into wine (not grape juice). He was always invited to parties and dinners. The night before his arrest he gathers his staff to sing and dine. The constant message was "Why worry? Look at the flowers"

He worked through his fear. He talked about his fear to his staff. He even sweat blood in the garden. But he kept moving toward the task at hand.

Strength of Action

He took action. He was not content to live in the past but instead to create a new way of thinking.

He had a plan. He had a clear picture of the big picture and always gave his staff clear instructions

He formed a team. Even Jesus knew he could not change the world by himself. You need to coordinate the energies of a range of complementary people working towards the same goal.

He trained his replacement. He constantly reminded his team that "Greater things than I have done shall you do"

He was a turnaround specialist. In almost every situation in which he found himself, his job was to turn things around. People always came to him to help them change.

Strength of Relationships

He held them accountable. This a critical factor in management. It allows for personal growth. He reminded his team that whatever they did on earth would also be replicated in heaven.

He set an example. The team was shocked when he took off his garment and washed their feet. His answer was simple, "I am doing this to set an example for you".

He gave them authority. Even to act in his name.

He wanted to take everyone to the top. Even the thief dying on the cross was invited to join him in Paradise.

He knew that nobody wins until we all do. This was a common theme; From the shepherd who could not rest if even one sheep was missing, to the prodigal son. Whatever you do for the least you do for me".

How about a little less worship and a little more work, like Jesus, CEO.
